Once Saved Always Saved Strange Bible Interpretations (Charles Stanley and Laurence Vance)

From downplaying the unique power of the blood of Christ, to teaching that weeping and gnashing of teeth in outer darkness is in the kingdom of heaven, to saying the Prodigal was lost in the sense that the Father didn’t know where he was, the Once Saved Always Saved teachers will do any kind of Scripture distortion to defend their doctrine. Even beyond these, Charles Stanley’s interpretation leads to the following:

You cannot outsin the grace of God. (Grace: God’s Second Chance, Grace and Continuing Sin, audiotape #4)

Laurence Vance similarly thinks an unrepentant prostitute could be saved. He states this as he chides another who ridicules such a notion. The statement that Vance criticizes is:

… came across a woman who happened to be the town prostitute. This woman believed that she was saved because as a young girl she walked the aisle in an evangelistic meeting and professed Christ as Savior. (The Other Side of Calvinism, p. 336)

Laurence Vance’s strange criticism was “… God let this woman get away with much more than he could.”

How can such strange interpretations go unchallenged? Certainly, there are various reasons. But this we know, such ministries flourish only because so many supporters are not acquainted with the Holy Bible and are not living in the fear of God. The primary reasons seem to be as cited in 2 Tim. 4:3,4 and 2 Pet. 2:1-3. Once Saved Always Saved is a license for immorality and needs to be contended against in obedience to the command in Jude 3,4.

Today’s False Gospel Exposed by Dan Corner

Nearly 2,000 years ago the apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, predicted that the day would yet come when people would not put up with sound doctrine. He wrote to Timothy about this and informed him how to counteract it. This is what he said:

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (2 Tim. 4:2-4).

That time is here! Multitudes of people living in our day are not putting up with sound doctrine and there are a great number of teachers saying what itching ears want to hear. The combination of these has resulted in various false doctrines.

But of all such teachings so produced, there is one doctrine in particular that is especially ear tickling, flesh-inciting, scripture-distorting and sin-breeding. This same teaching lulls Christians to sleep, takes them off their spiritual guard, destroys the fear of God, sets them up for a spiritual fall and is very prevalent. It is known under various names. Some call it eternal security, like Charles Stanley. This is how he defines this teaching:

“Listen, eternal security is that work of God by which He guarantees that the gift of salvation once received is, listen, is forever possessed and cannot be lost.

Others in Calvinistic circles call this same teaching the perseverance of the saints, while still others know it as the teaching of once saved, always saved. Reformed teacher, Steve Brown, comments about these different names:

“Very strong, orthodox, fundamental, Bible-believing Christians disagree on the doctrine. The doctrine is called uh, by Baptists, eternal security or once saved always saved. Those of us who are Reformed uh, call it the perseverance of the saints, but we mean the same thing. And the doctrine states that once you’re saved, you’re always saved, that God holds you, that you will persevere to the end.”

The doctrine of once saved always saved can be simply defined, as its name declares, that is, once a person becomes saved, he will always remain saved.

In this message, you will hear actual OSAS teachers offer counsel consistent with this teaching regarding adultery, fornication, alcoholism, pornography, suicide, murder, homosexuality, etc. Brace yourself for some shocking audio quotes from people with a staggering influence in religious circles.

This is a one hour audio message by Dan Corner with actual excerpts from big-name eternal security teachers and our biblical refutation. Very hard hitting and eye-opening.
